The Ultimate Avocado Toast (Like Actually)

I’ve never been the type of person to wake up and know what I want for breakfast, at least I wasn’t until I discovered you guessed it, avocado toast. Every morning I wondered if I was feeling sweet or savory, fruity or indulging, and now all I do is prep the toaster and put some oil on a pan for my egg as soon as I step into my kitchen in the morning. I’ve always followed 1 simple recipe or my toast, partially created on my own but also inspired by thousands of other recipes I’ve stumbled on through the web.

These past few weeks I have been obsessed with cooking, finding new recipes, and trying them out for lunch or dinner. One thing I noticed in my hunt for the best avocado toast is that everybody’s recipe is pretty much the same, with very few variants. We all have bread, avocado, and egg. Some like to add tomatoes or other veggies but the true difference stands on the taste. Some like spicier flavors and may go overboard with sriracha while others stay sweet and add a drizzle of honey. At the end of the day, all variants of the toast are delicious!

But for those of you that actually wanted a recipe,

Here’s what you’ll need:

-For 1 toast:

  • Your choice of bread. (1 slice)
  • Half of an avocado.
  • 1 egg.
  • Salt.  (just a dash)
  • Pepper. (just a dash)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes. (just a dash)
  • Garlic powder. (just a dash)
  • A teaspoon of olive oil.

Condiments are 100% to your preference, these are my personal favorite but you can add and remove as you please. Eat whatever you think tastes good with your toast, at the end of the day you’re the one eating it.

Let’s get started:

  • Begin by toasting your choice of bread.
  • Heat a pan with a tiny bit of olive oil.
  • Smash the avocado and condiments together.
  • Pan fry your egg (hoping for sunny side up).
  • Lather your avocado mix on the toast.
  • Place your egg above the avocado.
  • Enjoy!

Although I hoped for a runny egg the day i decided to film and get everything ready for this post, I unfortunately overcooked my egg. When I saw I had overcooked the yolk, i wanted to redo it and cook a better egg but I tried it and god was it tasty. I understood that, that was the beauty of a good avocado toast.

The ultimate avocado toast is the one that takes you from under the dumps on an early morning.

even if it’s not perfect :).
