Back In Time: The Met Camp Fashion 2019

First Monday of May and my Instagram feed is missing all the action from the celebrities getting ready for the met gala. although the met has been postponed for later this year, it feels like a negative space deep in my heart. one thing is certain, last year’s camp-themed gala was on for the history books!

It is always hard to determine who brought the styling skills to the next level when it comes to Met Gala. It takes a team of beauty, fashion, and hair savvies to elaborate flawlessly a full look that will become embodied in history. Last year’s theme CAMP was so exquisite just by the fact that it was mind-bending to describe and even harder to recreate a look that is not as common as you would think. Anything -really, anything- could go both ways with the hopes of a successful CAMP look or -like Ariana Grande would say- thank you, NEXT!

The million-dollar question is, what does CAMP means? CAMP is the love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration, style at the expense of content, the triumph of the epicene style, elements of irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, excess, extravagance, nostalgia, and exaggeration. -Lady Gaga’s interpretation of Notes On Camp by Susan Sontag. IRL, this definition describes everything I get to see at a drag show!

Shall we start presenting the best red carpet CAMP looks of 2019? I will answer that for you, AB-SO-LUTE-LY!
